- This file is for a short description of each external. For more information
- please see the individual readme files with each external.
-
-
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Backup File
-
- When envoked from the OtherMenu, Backup File will copy a single file of your
- choosing to anyplace that your mac has access to. If used repeatedly it
- can either delete the old version each time or will rename each new version
- with a number after the name. With this option you will not only have many
- backups of your work but you will have incremental versions as well. This
- is really nice because at any time you can go back and get work that you
- might have accidentally or even intentionally deleted or changed and now
- want back.
-
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Express Modem
-
- This external will allow you to turn the Express Modem on or off. The Express
- Modem software uses around 300K so it might be useful to turn it off to free
- up that memory. It will also allow you to open the control panel directly from
- OtherMenu. The only limitation is that you can not turn the modem on while the
- control panel is open (off is ok).
-
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Kill 'em All!
-
- When envoked from the OtherMenu, Kill 'em all will kill all open applications
- except for the Finder. Initially it will ask you to confirm that each
- application should be killed, but you can change in the settings dialog.
- Also in the setting dialog is the option of giving an exception for one
- certain application. This application must be identified by its creator
- (ie MSWD for Word, PJMM for THINK Pascal). The settings dialog for
- OtherMenu externals can be accessed by holding down the shift key when
- choosing the external from OtherMenu.
-
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- PowerBook Info
-
- This external gives you various info about the status of your PowerBook. This
- includes the current CPU speed, current printer selection, modem info, battery
- status and current state of AppleTalk and FileSharing. It serves no purpose on
- a non-portable machine.
-
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Sharing Toggle
-
- Selecting Sharing Toggle from the OtherMenu menu will invoke Sharing Toggle.
- Upon invocation, Sharing Toggle checks to see if the File Sharing/Server
- Extension is installed. If either is installed, Sharing Toggle will check the
- state of sharing/service and toggle it to its opposite state.
